Guidance
Guidance is the name given to the structure whose overarching aim is to provide a safe, supportive and challenging environment that gives all students the opportunity to reach their potential.
It is based on a year system with Heads of Year supporting the work of the Form Tutors. All students are placed in a mixed ability tutor group of approximately 23 - 28 boys and girls. The Tutor will develop close working relationships, taking responsibility for the day to day administration and high standards of discipline, uniform and achievements and will challenge all to achieve their best.
"The school's good ethos and good relationships contribute significantly to students' good personal development and well being." (OFSTED March 2006)
The Tutor and Head of Year are the first points of contact for parents where there is a concern about the welfare or progress of students. The school has developed excellent relationships with a number of support services as we endeavour to meet the needs of all students.
OFSTED (March 2006) judged the quality of care, guidance and support offered by the school to be outstanding.
Behaviour
At Cannock Chase High School we believe that an ordered disciplined atmosphere is the best environment for learning. Students are encouraged to exercise self discipline and all staff are regularly trained in the latest Solution Focused Strategies. The school rules are there for safety and to promote the concept of respect for others, the environment and, most importantly, self. We involve parents at an early stage when problems arise and we trust that parents will support appropriate sanctions.
