Severe Weather Procedures

In the event of severe weather conditions, or indeed any other emergency, we may need to close the school. This is a decision that can often only be made early in the morning.

In making this decision there is a need to balance the health and safety risks of students making hazardous journeys, against the loss of a school day and the fact that the bus companies often decide themselves not to undertake the services because of their own risk assessment. We either need to be open with a full school or closed. To end up with a depleted number of staff and students exposes them all to risk, for little purpose.

When a decision is made, we will change the answerphone message on the school's telephone system to notify either a closure or that we are open. The following radio stations will also be contacted with relevant information:
