Year 7 Transition
The transition from primary to high school is an exciting time, full of challenges and experiences for both parent and child. We work very hard to ensure maximum success for all our students so they are ready for the challenges of high school, enjoying new friendships and the new opportunities high school brings.
Students joining us will be placed in a mixed ability tutor group. Their tutor will remain with them from Year 7 to Year 11 and plays an important role linking home and school. Prior to this Mrs Jones, who is the senior teacher in charge of transition, or the Head of Year 7, will visit all the feeder primary schools to talk to Year 6 teachers and students.
You will be invited to a Parent Partnership evening on Monday 5th July 2010 where you can meet the tutor and find out lots of information that will help you plan for September. On Wednesday 7th July 2010 the students will spend the day with us. They will have 'taster' lessons and team-building activities to help reassure them about their new school and give them the opportunity to get to know their tutor and tutor group a little better. Older students CHAMPS and Prefects will also provide support during this day and in the new term.
We look forward to meeting you and hope your time with us, as parents and students, will be happy and successful.
