Connexions Student Support
The Connexions Service has a high profile here at Cannock Chase High School. We have the services of at least one connexions advisor on site every day of the school week and they work from a designated Connexions Zone based in the upper school site.
The Information, Advice and Guidance service provided by Connexions covers careers and learning, physical and emotional health and well-being, sexual health and relationships, drugs and alcohol, financial matters, justice, society, rights and responsibilities - all making a positive contribution to each of the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes.
This is achieved through activities which include:
- Information and advice to support choices and decisions
- Health Matters Day for all Year9 pupils that involved a number of agencies
- Together with the school, identify those who are likely to need additional support/different provision
- Work with groups of pupils, or on their own
- Provide labour market information and informative publications
- Drop-in sessions and self-referral offering impartial information, advice and guidance
- One-to-one interventions with young people referred by school staff for additional support
- Track the destinations of every young person leaving the school until they reach 19 years of age, and sustain support if required
- Provide a presence and support for young people and their families on occasions such as - parents' evenings transition meetings and GCSE and A level results days
